Our History. Your Voice. New Haven’s Shared Stories.

Help the Ethnic Heritage Center tell New Haven’s next chapter for America250.

New Haven’s history is not only about what happened centuries ago. We continue to write New Haven’s history with the people, cultures, organizations, and traditions shaping the city today.

As part of New Haven’s America 250 celebration, the Ethnic Heritage Center is updating its 33-panel exhibit, Ethnic History of New Haven.

Now, we are updating this exhibit with new panels covering 2000 to 2026 — and creating a smaller traveling exhibit that can be shared with the community.

How can you help update our community’s ethnic history?

Help us identify:

  • Important events from the last 25 years

  • Shared cultural traditions and celebrations

  • Family histories, migration stories, and community contributions

  • Photos, documents, memories, and archival materials that help tell the story
